Your healing journey is not straight…there will be questions.

What is Sensor Reset technique?

It is a combination of counterstrain, muscle energy technique, and the use of a massage gun’s vibrations to reset two key mechanoreceptors (length and tension sensors) in our muscles. When the pain is coming from these sensors sending out the wrong information, relief is felt in seconds.

How often do I need to massage myself?

Your body will tell you.

  • If the problem comes back daily, then for the 1st week or 2, you will want to do it daily (unless it’s sore to the touch - give it a day or two of rest).

  • If it’s more of a weekly issue, then 1-2 times per week should ensure that you stay ahead of it.

  • If it bothers you once in a great while, then you may only need to work on it as it comes up.

Why does it hurt more after?

Perhaps more pressure was used than needed. Back off on the pressure next time and maybe even cut down to 6 seconds instead of 10. A nerve may have gotten irritated or we re-entered the inflammatory stage of healing  (consult your doctor if it doesn’t calm down in a day or two).

Why does it hurt in a place I didn’t massage and it didn’t hurt before?

Sometimes when we free up one stagnated area, we allow the body to show us where else it was hurting that we weren’t aware of or have forgotten that was where it all started.

Why am I having the same issue come up after it seems to go away?

It’s time to look at what we may be doing in our daily activities that could be contributing to the return of the ailment. For example, people who sit for their jobs can have their backs be a recurring issue.

What are the stages of healing?

  • Inflammatory (2-3 days)

  • Repair (varies)

  • Remodel (varies)

Why does it take so long to heal?

Depending on severity, time since incident, and concept of the way our bodies heal: from the inside out, head to toe, and in reverse order of injuries.

Can I do cross fiber if I have a tear?

Consult your physician before trying any of the things described in the videos. We generally perform cross fiber on tendons and ligaments AFTER they have healed, because our goal is to break up adhesions that have formed during the healing process.
